On 24 August 2026, ReEarth Club, BRUR conducted a school outreach session at Kolkonda Abdus Samad Di-Mukhi High School as part of the “চরের কথা: From Loss to Awareness & Action” project.
The session brought together around 40 students from Classes 8–10 to explore important issues including climate change, Loss and Damage, environmental awareness, disaster risk, and the lived realities of char communities.
The session featured an interactive presentation, quiz, group work, Q&A and distribution of awareness materials, creating an engaging space for students to learn, discuss and reflect on how climate and environmental changes affect communities, particularly those living in vulnerable char areas.
I served as the Session Coordinator, taking responsibility for coordinating the overall flow and implementation of the programme. From briefing the students about the project and the day’s activities to coordinating the presenters, managing the sequence of activities and ensuring smooth transitions throughout the session, I worked to keep the programme organized and engaging. The Head Teacher of the school was present throughout the session, which added valuable support to the initiative.
The experience was particularly meaningful because it brought climate change and Loss and Damage discussions closer to young people whose communities are directly connected to these realities. Creating awareness among students at an early stage can help build a stronger understanding of climate risks, resilience and the need for collective action.
